Question: Does the program support scientific research? Most of the funded programs on the web site focused on supporting people or workshops. Answer: For proposals for scientific and/or technical reseach, the evaluation team will not provide original review. However, we will rely on prior scientific and/technical reviews by others in support of the proposal. Several past Initiatives Fund projects of a scientific and technical nature have been supported, e.g., Handheld Gamma Camera for Cancer Surgery, Limits to SRF Cavity Performance, Positron Coincidence Imaging Detector System.
Question: The instructions say that the proposal must contain the Summary Sheet, up to 5 pages for the Technical Proposal with up to 5 additional pages of supporting materials, and the Budget Proposal. I have prepared a 13-page technical proposal. Will this be accepted for review? Answer: Because we receive numerous proposals annually for funding, the limitation on pages is necessary to ensure that each proposal receives a fair reading. Please honor the page limitations.
