Jefferson Sciences Associates Now Accepting Nominations for the Inaugural JSA Outstanding Nuclear Physicist Award (download Poster)

About the Award
The JSA Outstanding Nuclear Physicist Award will recognize individuals who have made outstanding and sustained contributions and/or significant technical achievements in experimental and/or theoretical research related to the nuclear physics program at the Jefferson Lab. The $10,000 award will be made every two years and the recipient will be honored at the JLab Annual Users Group meeting in June.

SURA will manage and administer the award program for the JSA Programs Committee. Questions about this award may be directed to Elizabeth Lawson, elawson@sura.org.

Nomination Process
Nominations are open until Friday, January 14, 2011, for individuals whose work and careers in Jefferson Lab nuclear physics including experimental and theoretical research, as well as technical achievements related to this research, have been noted by their peers in the field nationally and internationally. Nomination packages should include:

  • Letter of nomination (up to two pages) describing the candidate's merits including research achievements and contributions
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Four (4) letters in support of the nomination, of which at least one is from outside the nominee's home country, and no more than one is from the nominee's home institution

All materials should be submitted via email to jsaprograms@sura.org, with the subject line "Outstanding Nuclear Physicist" by the closing date.

This project is supported by the JSA Initiatives Fund Program, a $0.5 Million annual commitment from the JSA owners, SURA and CSC/ATG, to support programs, initiatives, and activities that further the scientific outreach, and promote the science, education and technology missions of Jefferson Lab and benefit the Lab user community.
