Very little. If you are currently onsite, you will have to attend orientation session for the JLab Exchange Visitors in our J-1 Program and for the Users on-site. We will be sending out notices for dates and times of these sessions and ask that you please attend the session assigned to your areas.
JLab Exchange Visitors in the J-1 Program receiving stipends will be required to complete an I-9 form at the orientation session to verify identification and work authorization. Hyperlinked is a listing of acceptable documents that prove your identification and work authorization. Please bring the appropriate documents with you to the orientation session and be prepared to complete the form at that time.
Yes you will be notified when your new badge is ready in the badge office and you can pick it up at that time. If you are not onsite, the next time you visit the Lab you must stop by the badging office to get your new badge. If you attend the Annual Users Group meeting June 12 - 14, you can pick your new badge up then.
Since JSA is a new contract all staff will need to become JSA employees. New paperwork and orientation sessions will be forth coming.

New DOE regulations in development may soon require some degree of drug testing. In anticipation of this, senior management is currently discussing the possible development of a policy on drug testing that would be in the best interest of the Laboratory.
The layoffs planned at CSC will not affect the JSA LLC. Larry Hare, President of the CSC Applied Technology Division and a JSA board member says, "The potential sale of CSC is by no means certain at this point." The new contract will be negotiated between the Department of Energy and JSA and is not expected to be impacted by any possible future sale of CSC.
Jefferson Science Associates is the managing and operating contractor who holds the contract with for the Department of Energy to manage and operate Jefferson Lab, the user facility. As of June 1st, you will be an employee of JSA who works at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab).
The leadership organization, as proposed, will become effective on June 1, immediately following the 45 day transition period. All employees will receive assignments within the new organization no later than September 30th.
The policies in place now with regard to vacation and sick leave are exactly the same including the limit on the number of hours you can carry over.
JSA will have a plan for succession for key positions and the CSC management training center will be made available to staff for additional training required to perform assigned duties.
All current job classifications and job descriptions are being carried to JSA.

Your withholding information current as of 4/27/2006 will be printed on the state and federal withholding forms. If you make an electronic change to your form after that date it will not be reflected on the pre filled-in version of the forms and you will need to complete new forms.
YES - all staff members, US citizens included must bring formal identification with them to their employment session. Refer to the I-9 form for acceptable forms of identification.
The clock is reset for casual employees when you become a JSA employee so you will have new 1000 hours to work for the year.
ASPEN Learning Management System assigns default times for classes using Pacific time (PDT) unless an individual changes his or her preferences on the Aspen homepage. Therefore, many notification messages contained times that appeared incorrect or in conflict with other information. Any time in an ASPEN message that is followed by "PDT" is 3 hours earlier than the actual start time. If you are unsure of a session's start time, contact Bruce Ullman (x7170 or ullman@jlab.org).
All members of Core Managers were scheduled for 2 sessions while everyone else was only scheduled for one. The intent was for Core Managers to complete their own paperwork at the May 1st session and then observe and assist the members of their group during the group's session. Core Managers who were not able to attend a session on May 1st do not need to reschedule; they may complete their own paperwork at their group's session.
If you are unable to attend your scheduled session for any reason, makeup sessions will be scheduled on May 5, May 11 and 12. Contact Bruce Ullman to be scheduled for a make up session. You must reschedule, so that your paperwork is available for you at that time.
Yes - our carriers will be sending out new cards with JSA on them instead of SURA.
